Situated on a serene lake in Greenwich, Connecticut, this 7,200 sq. ft. luxury residence was completely reimagined by Anastasia Mitrovic Interiors, LLC. to fully embrace its exceptional natural surroundings. While the home’s setting offered incredible views, the original layout failed to take full advantage of its location, creating a disconnect between the interiors and the landscape just beyond the walls.
The goal of this full-gut renovation was to rethink how the home functioned - shifting daily life toward the water while creating a sense of calm, cohesion, and modern livability throughout. Every design decision was guided by how the homeowners wanted to live in the space, from everyday routines to moments of gathering and retreat, ensuring the home felt intentional, connected, and comfortable from the inside out.

The Design Approach

A Home Shaped By Its Surroundings
From the first moment we stepped into this home, we knew it needed to be reimagined to celebrate both modern living and its incredible water views. While the lake and in-ground pool were always stunning, the original layout didn’t allow the homeowners to fully experience them from inside.
To bring the outdoors in, we reoriented the main living spaces toward the water and introduced four expansive sliding doors that dissolve the line between indoors and out. Even the primary suite was transformed with an extended terrace where there had once been only a flat roof, creating a private retreat with uninterrupted views. Every choice was made so that living spaces feel effortless, open, and deeply connected to the surroundings.

Where Architecture Becomes An Experience
As the home opened to its surroundings, architectural details were layered in to guide how the space feels and flows. The secondary stair was relocated to the kitchen, turning a functional element into a sculptural centerpiece that anchors the heart of the home.
The floating staircase, designed with a restrained, zen-inspired aesthetic, features integrated LED lighting that casts a soft, ambient glow in the evenings. All five existing fireplaces were redesigned with clean, modern detailing, and a faux fireplace was added in the primary suite to bring an added sense of warmth and comfort. Each intervention was carefully considered to enhance the experience of the home without ever feeling forced or overdone.

Warm Modern Living Throughout
With the architecture in place, the interiors were layered to bring comfort, personality, and cohesion to the home. Clean lines were softened through natural textures, layered materials, and tailored furnishings, creating spaces that feel modern yet deeply inviting.
Rather than treating rooms as isolated moments, the design focused on how the home feels as a whole—from the main entry and living areas to the family room, kids’ suites, guest suite, home gym, and office. Every corner supports real life while maintaining a sense of calm, flow, and elevated modern style, making the home both refined and livable.
The Result
Greenwich Modern is a thoughtfully reimagined home that feels cohesive, grounded, and deeply connected to its surroundings. The redesigned layout, architectural interventions, and layered interiors work together to create a modern residence that is both refined and livable—one that reflects a clear vision and supports the way the homeowners live today.
